There are many ways to contact people with higher authority who can implement sustainable practices at a larger scale. Such people include school principals, mayors and members of parliament.


Contacting Members of Parliament:

Using this link find your local MP by searching for their name or by your electorate name. Once you find them, select the Connect section, then select the Contact form under Social Media. You should see this:

General Tips for Proposals in School

  • Know who your audience is - eg. is this proposal being given to student leaders, staff, principal, etc .
  • Be concise, but make sure you include all the important information
  • Important information can include both the logistical details of a proposal, but also the reasoning for a proposal 
  • Use formal language 
  • Appeal to your school’s values, vision, beliefs etc - if you can tie your proposal in with these ideas it can help for staff leadership to get on board with it 
  • Be prepared to make compromises with aspects of your proposal
  • Stay realistic

  • You can begin by identifying an issue within your school, and then explain how this initiative will help to solve/reduce this issue.
  • Additionally, include the aim/goal of this proposal, and what it could help to achieve.
  • Try to keep this as succinct as possible, whilst also ensuring all important details are covered.

Logistics

  • Here, include the logistical and specific details of your proposal.
  • Include information about dates, times, cost, who is involved etc.
  • Remember to be realistic!

Why is this needed?

  • Provide reasoning for why this specific initiative is needed in your school.
  • Eg to solve an issue, to support students, to promote a certain value etc.

How to combat disadvantages

  • If you do not have a solution, its okay to say so! This can be an opportunity to collaborate with staff or students to help prevent these difficulties/disadvantages.

  • For example, you may have already done a survey to students or staff, asking for expressions of interest – include these details here.
